Ebay item 4/10/12
youtu.be/UIxdAHAAi3o
BODY: The car was originally Primrose, (yellow) but was painted silver by the previous owner, a good paint job by driver standards. There is little rust in the car. It has a small area visible under the driver's foot well, (see photo), but is otherwise very solid with excellent rocker panels. The doors are solid with no rust evident underneath the bottom seam, (see photos). All the glass is in good condition, no chips. The headlamp covers are present and in good condition. All trim is present and in good condition.
INTERIOR / TOP: The top is in excellent condition. The rear window is clear, flexible, with no imperfections. No issues with the top. The black interior has a split in the dash pad on the left side. There are small tears in the driver seat back, and the lid to the glove box between the seats and the console behind the shifter. The shifter boot needs replacement. The left arm rest needs repair. All gauges/switches work. A switch has been added to control the radiator fan, this should be removed and a corrected with a replacement of the fan thermostatic switch. The plastic cover, right side of steering column, opposite the turn indicator is missing. The original radio is present, but does not work. Four point racing seatbelts have been fitted. Carpets are present and in good condition.
ENGINE: The 4.2 litre engine is correct for the car. The engine runs, and has excellent oil pressure, but is down on power. A compression test shows low compression on cylinders 3 and 6. A leak down test shows evidence of blow-by past the piston rings. Compression readings below, note that cylinder 1 is closest to the fire wall.
1. 140 psi, 2. 160 psi, 3. 85 psi, 4. 160 psi, 5. 160 psi, 6. 60 psi
ELECTRICAL: All lamps work as they should, L and R turn signals work, alternator charges as it should. No known electrical issues.
TRANSMISSION: The full syncro 4 speed manual shifts as it should with no issues, however the clutch engages at the top of the pedal movement, indicating it should be replaced when the engine work is done.
SUSPENSION/BRAKES: The steering is tight and correct. The suspension works as it should; all joints and bushings are tight. The brakes work well, the car stops in a straight line. All discs and calipers are in good condition.
WIRE WHEELS: The wheels are in good condition with good splines and no broken or loose spokes. The wheel locks are in good condition, and are not "beat up". The spare wheel has what appears to be the original Dunlop spare bias ply tire. The other 4 tires are radials of the correct size with 80% tread life.
JACK: I have included a correct E-Type Metalfacture jack and lead knock off hammer with the car.
Overall this car is an excellent candidate for either a full restoration. or simply repair the engine, replace the clutch and drive it as is.
Please note that the missing cover mentioned on the steering column, right of the turn signal switch is not plastic, but black cast metal, sorry for the error. Also, while the 4.2 litre engine is correct for the car, it is not numbers matching to the id tag.
