1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Roadster
LOT: 556
Estimate: $125,000-$150,000 US
Chassis No. 1E13164
AUCTION RESULTS: Lot was Sold at a price of $159,500
The 1966 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series I Roadster featured here is a matching numbers vehicle that recently received a comprehensive and documented restoration to show quality condition by the Jaguar experts, Classic Showcase.
During the restoration process the car was disassembled and carefully inspected. The body was stripped to bare metal, fitted on a rotisserie and painstakingly worked on to make sure that after painting, color sanding and buffing, the fit and finish would be flawless. As expected of a restoration of this caliber, the brightwork was sent away to be replated or refinished, and all the rubber seals were replaced with new.
The mechanical portion of the restoration was all-encompassing. The engine, transmission and rear-end were rebuilt to factory specifications. Additionally, all of the ancillary systems, such as electrical, fuel delivery, exhaust, suspension and braking were fully refurbished or replaced with new.
Classic Showcase’s upholstery department custom tailored and fitted a completely new interior, which features a center console, armrests and toggle switches. They also restored the soft top bows before custom fitting a new top and boot.
The entire restoration was documented on DVD, which will accompany the car in the sale. Since the restoration was completed the Jaguar has only accumulated 100 test miles and remains virtually flaweless. As such, the E-Type would perform spectacularly at any JCNA event or other distinguished judging venue.
Finished in black, with covered headlights and new wire wheels wrapped in fresh rubber, this Series I 4.2 liter E-Type is simply breathtaking. It is something worth inspecting first hand, as it is most certainly one of finest examples anywhere.
