Few cars can boast being an Amelia Island example - either on the field or across the sales lanes. Offered by RM at Amelia in 2007 says volumes about this 1966 Jaguar Series 1's superior quality. Since then this car has been parked alongside Lambos in private New York collection. Just thoroughly refreshed by us - and spectacular in every detail - we proudly present this matching numbers, original colors, concours example of the one the world's most sought after classics for your investment consideration.
The Ivory paint seems so creamy smooth and deep that you could overlook the car's equally perfect red leather interior. Every spec of chrome and detail is virtually flawless The glass is perfect. The top and its frame are perfect and fit perfectly to windshield frame - no windage or leaks! (That's unique!)
Underneath, every fitting is correct and authentic. Each mechanical component is the right color and has right detail, fit and function. The pans are painted; not coated.
Note the engine bay and front suspension; from perfect ceramic heads to the washer bottle, every wire, strap, clamp and part is as new.
Yes, this is a truly concours JCNA Heritage Trust certified, matching numbers, original color Series 1.
Several Series 1's changed collections during Amelia Island, Monterey and other premier venues this year. None were superior to this just-finished example. Several sold for over $160,000 making this one a real bargain!

Lot S152 Monterey 2016 Aug 18-20
Color White
Interior Maroon
VIN/Serial 1E12880
Estimate $175,000 - $200,000
Comprehensive restoration
Believed to be 46,134 miles
4.2L 6-cylinder engine
Triple side-draft carburetors
4-speed manual transmission
4-wheel disc brakes
Desirable White with Maroon leather interior
Wood steering wheel
Chrome wire wheels
This 1966 Jaguar E-Type Roadster underwent a comprehensive restoration for a return to its mid-Sixties status and shows a believed to be accurate 46,134 miles on the odometer. The 4.2L 6-cylinder DOHC engine was factory rated for 265 horsepower at 5,400 RPM and 245 lb-ft of torque further down in the engine speed range of 3,000 RPM. Triple SU side-draft carburetors and Lucas ignition supplied fuel and spark. The engine is backed by a 4-speed all-synchromesh manual transmission driving the rear wheels. The fully independent suspension starts with a multi-tube front with coil springs double a-arms and chassis mounted rear differential working with quad coil springs and lower wishbones for assured road tracking. Front disc brakes join inboard rear discs for confident braking from 150 MPH top speed. Finished in a desirable white exterior with maroon leather interior the E-type roadster is an outstanding example of English performance innovation and traditional hand-built craftsmanship. Gossamer thin bumpers and lightweight engineering shaved off hundreds of pounds over the preceding Jaguar models. The well-appointed interior is centered by a pair of restored deep-cushioned leather low-back bucket seats over plush carpeting. The three spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted on a height and reach adjustable steering column. A chrome finish upswept rear center exit dual exhaust is a fitting complement to the chrome wire wheels with Jaguar logo winged knock-offs.

Auction descirption:
Lot S139 Kissimmee 2020 Jan 2-12
$125,000 - $145,000 Highlights
Comprehensive restoration
Matching numbers 4.2L 6-cylinder engine and drivetrain
Triple side-draft carburetors
4-speed manual transmission
Factory Old English White exterior
Black convertible top
Black boot cover
Factory Red interior
Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate
As a 1966 example, this roadster in the classic combination of Old English White with a red interior features the glorious full-house triple-SU carb setup, before U.S. emissions neutered imported versions with power-sapping twin carbs. Nor are there the safety bumpers that were later imposed on imports. Equipped with a black convertible top and boot cover, this matching-numbers 4.2L roadster has benefited from a comprehensive restoration that presents as factory standard and has resisted spurious “enhancements.” Thankfully, too, there are no “garnishes,” such as the needless white-stripe tires that so offend purists and enrage Anglophiles. In short, the 4.2L Series 1 E-type offers an enhanced driving experience while retaining the aesthetic purity of the original. That’s what makes it a favorite with many enthusiasts.

Private Party Or Dealer: Dealer
This 1966 Jaguar XKE roadster was built on March 31, 1966, distributed through Jaguar Cars, New York, and purchased new by an owner in Washington State. The selling dealer acquired it in 2018, and the car is believed to have been refurbished during previous ownership in 2012. It is finished in cream with a black convertible soft top over a red leather interior, and power is provided by a numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel independent suspension, and triple SU carburetors. This Series 1 XKE roadster is now offered by the selling dealer with a copy of the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, service records from 2019, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The body was reportedly refinished in cream during a refurbishment performed in 2012 by a previous owner. Features include a black convertible top, a black top boot, a left front wing-mounted chrome mirror, glass headlight covers, and chrome moldings. Service in March 2019 included adjusting the driver’s door latch and repairs to the windshield washer.
15″ chrome knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in 205/70 Firestone FR575 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors, and the four-wheel independent suspension utilizes torsion bars up front and coil springs at the rear. Maintenance performed by Ragtops & Roadsters of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, in 2019 included a replacement brake master cylinder and new front and rear brake hoses.
The interior is trimmed in red leather with matching carpets and door panels, a black dashboard, and black rubber floor mats. The heater control cable was repaired in April 2019.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Ancillary gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 46k miles, approximately 125 of which were added by the selling dealer in two years. True mileage is unknown.
The 4.2L twin-cam inline-six is equipped with triple SU side-draft carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The selling dealer notes oil seepage around the oil pan and states that the oil was changed in April 2019.
The cylinder head stamping 7E8698-9 is shown above and matches the engine number noted on the copy of the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. The engine block identification stamp matches as well.
The provided copy of the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors and identification numbers and shows a build date of March 31, 1966.
