This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was manufactured on February 21, 1966, and distributed new in the US through Jaguar Cars of New York. The car was reportedly purchased by the previous owner from its second owner in 2018, and a subsequent cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment was reportedly performed in Europe and completed in February 2022. The current owner acquired it after its return to the US in April 2022. Work during the project included body and rust repairs, a repaint in Opalescent Gunmetal, an interior refresh in London Tan leather, rebuilds of the 4.2L inline-six and four-speed manual transmission, and overhauls of the four-wheel disc brakes, independent suspension system, and electrical system. Equipment includes a black soft top, a Blaupunkt radio, and 15″ chrome wire wheels. This XKE is now offered in Connecticut on behalf of the current owner, a New Jersey retail dealership, with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, refurbishment photos, a pair of brown leather luggage cases, a tool kit, and a clean Pennsylvania title listing the car as a 1967 model.

This XKE was originally finished in Carmen Red, and it was disassembled and stripped prior to rust remediation and metal repairs followed by a repaint in Opalescent Gunmetal. Features include a replacement black folding soft top, split front and rear bumpers, glass headlight covers, and twin exhaust finishers.

Chrome 15” wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs and wear Vredestein Sport Classic tires. A spare is stored in the rear compartment. The four-wheel disc brakes feature inboard rear rotors and were overhauled during the refurbishment work.

Replacement London Tan leather upholstery is accompanied by matching door panels, console trim, and carpeting. Lap belts are provided for both occupants, and a Blaupunkt radio is linked to speakers mounted on each side of the center stack.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 260-km/h speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. The five-digit odometer shows 426 kilometers (~264 miles), and actual mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six was rebuilt during the refurbishment with replacement pistons, bearings, valves, and timing chains. The block was hot-tanked and machined, the crankshaft was magnafluxed, and the oil and water pumps were replaced along with the triple SU carburetors. The radiator was also re-cored, and a replacement wiring loom was installed according to the selling dealer.

Cylinder-head stamping 7E8229-9 matches the engine block stamp as well as the engine number noted on the chassis identification plate and on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

The four-speed manual gearbox was overhauled with replacement seals and synchronizers, and a replacement clutch kit was installed. The driveshaft was balanced, the exhaust system was replaced, and the front and rear suspension systems were rebuilt with powder-coated front components and repainted rear components.

A custom two-piece set of luggage wrapped in matching London Tan leather with plaid inner lining is included in the sale, as are a tool kit, hammer, and knock-off wrench.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists the original colors and identification numbers, as well as delivery in the US through Jaguar Cars of New York in March 1966.
