The picture frame was put up on ebay for sale. So we can assume the car was dismantled for parts

    Asking $750, no bids.

    Sellers description:
Here is a JAGUAR stamped 1E12561 Factory Made Front Frame Cross Member CO-15014 METAL (Picture Frame). There are no signs of repair and it is all STRAIGHT and narrow. Start building your car with this original piece. Piece of wood was strapped fast to stabilize and make it easier to carry as far as avoiding metal edges. Most of the parts [of the original car] were used to build a race car many years ago and this part is a remaining survivor.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
