Listed for sale at www.gatewayclassiccars.com "This particular XKE has been privately owned by the same enthusiast since 1980. The car is mostly original with the exception of one respray in its original color, Primrose Yellow. The engine and transmission are original to this car and have been serviced regularly. The engine and transmission were overhauled in the mid 1980's and have very few miles since. The odometer shows 55,634 original miles. The car has typical wear and tear as an un-restored car is expected to have, but overall is in wonderful shape given its age. The interior retains its original upholstery and shows beautifully. The equipment all works as it should down to the original radio. The trunk is completely solid and houses the proper spare tire and tool kit. The car is wearing an older repaint which shows checking. The body is incredibly solid and it is clear the car was always stored indoors. The car was recently tuned up and checked over to be sure it is road ready. It started easily, runs very well and has good power. The car can be driven and enjoyed as is, or some paint work could be an excellent investment. With prices soaring on high quality E-types, there is no question these are desirable roadsters. You can view this E-type in greater detail in our St. Louis showroom.." Asking price $120,000.

This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a left-hand drive Series I roadster that was built on December 9, 1965 and distributed through Jaguar of Eastern Canada in Montreal, Quebec. The car is said to have remained with its previous owner from 1980 until its acquisition in 2016 by the seller, who commissioned a subsequent refurbishment that was brought to completion in the fall of 2020. Work included a repaint in Opalescent Silver Grey Metallic, a reupholstered red leather interior, and a rebuild of the three SU carburetors. Power is supplied by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a black soft top, a Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM radio, glass headlight covers, and knock-off wire wheels. This Series I XKE is being offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, documentation and photos from the refurbishment, a Covercraft car cover, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.

Delivered from the factory in Pale Primrose Yellow, the car was repainted its current shade of Opalescent Silver Grey Metallic following rust repair on the body shell, repairs of previous damage around the driver-side taillight, and a replacement driver-side sill end panel, driver-side heel well, and bulkhead-to-sill closing panels by Vescio’s Customizing and Restorations of Rogers, Minnesota. The brightwork was re-chromed or polished, a new black soft top was installed, and additional equipment includes glass headlight covers and central twin exhaust outlets.

Polished 15” wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears, and a full-size spare is found in the trunk. A remote rear brake bleeder hose was installed during the refurbishment.

The cabin was trimmed from the factory in black and was fitted with Dynamat sound deadening material before being reupholstered in red leather sourced from BAS Ltd. and installed by Aero Upholstery of Hamel, Minnesota. Black rubber mats line the matching red carpets, and equipment includes a Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM radio, lap belts for both occupants, and toggle switches for vehicle functions.

A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock. A quartet of auxiliary instrumentation in the center stack includes displays for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows just over 56k miles, around 450 of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six received a replacement cylinder head some time during previous ownership and is equipped with triple SU carburetors that were rebuilt during the refurbishment. The radiator was cleaned and repainted, and a replacement water pump, distributor, stainless-steel exhaust system, wiring harnesses, and CoolCat electric fan have been installed. The results of a compression test can be seen in the gallery, and the seller notes a recent oil change.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was reassembled with new gaskets and seals by Special Interest Auto Service LLC of St Louis Park, Minnesota. Bodywork was performed in the floors and rocker panels.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers.
