Sellers description:
1965 JAGUAR E-TYPE (XKE)
FULLY RESTORED IN FABULOUS CONDITION!!

This gorgeous Jag has only been driven 2056 miles since full restoration! Beautiful car in amazing condition - always garaged in a climate controlled 50% humidity environment - never wrecked and never driven in the rain. Same owner from 1991 has full pictorial history and receipt record for frame-off restoration.

This Series 1 E-type has covered headlights. The exterior is the original paint color - Old English White. The interior is fully restored in the original red. New mohair top. Becker AM/FM radio. 2 doors with manual transmission. Chrome and paint are in perfect condition. All lights, gauges, horn, wipers, etc. work perfectly. A new California car cover is included with this sale.

6 cylinder 4.2 liter engine has 3-40DC03 Webers (rather than SUs). Fully restored as original except for exhaust header (instead of porcelain manifold) and electronic ignition. When the car was restored in Annapolis the engine, transmission , differential, shocks, etc. were all rebuilt . Also the cams were up-graded from stock (not sure of the specs?).The undercarriage is in excellent condition and rust is absolutely not an issue with this car.

This is a rare chance to own a 1965 Jaguar in impeccable condition. The work is done - all you have to do is enjoy driving!

The numbers on the plate are as follows: Gear Box EJ4369; Engine FFG21689; Head FG669; Car 1E12068; Body 4E1763; Engine 7E2770-9.

Lot 202

Motorcars from the Oldenburg Family Collection

1965 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2-Liter Roadster

US$ 110,000 - 130,000

£ 84,000 - 100,000

Sold for US$ 78,400

The Amelia Island Auction

5 Mar 2020, 12:00 EST

Chassis no. 1E12068

Engine no. 7E2770-9

*Jaguar Heritage Certificate on file

*Two owners in the last 29 years

*Restored in the early 2000s

*Reported to be a good driver quality example

In the peak buying period of the Oldenburg family's collecting in 2006, they found this mid-series E-Type Roadster here in Amelia Island. It was represented for sale by the respected Classic Showcase business. As acquired, the Jaguar had been with its past owner since 1991 and in its latter years had received a comprehensive restoration, on which only 2,000 miles had been added to 2006.

The restoration had adhered to the original colors of the car, being an exterior of Old English White, contrasted with red seating and a black mohair top. The engine had been tweaked during the rebuild, with 3 Weber carburetors in place of the original SUs, an exhaust header fitted and electronic ignition. It was also suggested that the cams were upgraded from stock.

On file is a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, together with a photographic record of the car's restoration.

Car to return to auction 11/21

Auction description:

The Guikas Collection

1965 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2-Litre Roadster

Le Castellet, France, last seen in Wrightsville Beach, NC

19 November 2021

Chassis No. 1E 12068

Engine No. 7E 2770-9

U.S.-delivery example with previous long-term American ownership

Restored approximately 20 years ago

Accompanied by photos detailing older restoration

Addendum: Please note, this lot is titled using the reference on the chassis plate. The chassis number stamp is not present.

Delivered new to the United States, this Jaguar E-Type Roadster is a desirable Series 1 example, fitted with the later 4.2-litre inline six-cylinder engine. Originally finished just as it appears today, in Old English White paintwork over a red leather interior with black convertible top, it is understood to have remained in the United States for its entire life prior to being purchased by Mr. Guikas in early 2020.

While this E-Type’s early ownership history is presently unknown, the car is accompanied by photos of an older restoration for work that put it in its current configuration. It was listed for sale in 2005 and advertised as having been driven only 2,056 miles following its restoration work. At that time, it had remained with the seller since 1991. In 2006, the car was acquired by the Oldenburg family collection, sitting alongside over 30 other significant American, British, and Italian sports cars, including a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona and Lamborghini Miura P400 SV.

Arguably the most attractive British car ever built, ownership of a Series 1 Jaguar E-Type is a bucket-list achievement for many enthusiasts. Combining incredible looks with highly capable performance, these cars are easy to use and enjoy on modern roads. This example is offered with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT) certificate, as well as a jack and hammer.
