1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Roadster
To be offered on Saturday, November 5, 2016
Estimate: $145,000 - $165,000
This 1966 Jaguar E-Type Roadster has an older frame-off restoration that was completed about mid-2005; and later benefiting from a refresh in 2016 by Jaguar expert Butch McKenzie. It's presented in a brilliant shade of red with a new Stayfast black convertible top. The car rides on blackwall tires mounted on knock-off wire wheels. The E-Type is powered by a 4.2-liter, 265-hp six-cylinder engine which is paired to a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission. The excellent sound of the 4.2-liter engine can be heard through a stainless steel exhaust system.
The interior is completed in black featuring leather bucket seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, Smiths instrumentation and a radio. When the top is down a new Stayfast black tonneau covers the convertible top, helping the car retain a sporty look. Included with the E-Type are a book, manual, tools; spare tire with jack, as well as a wood knock-off wrench for the wire wheels.
Recent work completed by Jaguar expert Butch McKenzie included: checking and changing all fluids; changing belts and hoses; re-calibration of carburetors and set idle; installed new correct fuel pump and related fuel lines; checked compression (all cylinders within spec); new plugs, new wires, new filter, minor seals were replaced; radiator flow and temperature were checked - installed new temperature sending unit; installed new knock-offs and balanced wheels; checked brakes (almost new); replaced wiper blades and one wiper arm; and lastly several chrome items were upgraded to enhance the car's finish.
This is an excellent example of a 1966 Jaguar E-Type Roadster. The owner describes the car as being a, "well sorted show-driver that can be driven long distances if desired without worry."

Private Party Or Dealer: Dealer
This 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was built on November 24, 1965 and dispatched to Jaguar Cars in New York on the following December 20. It received exterior and interior color changes during previous ownership and resided in Minnesota and North Carolina prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2017. Power is supplied by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, and the car was serviced with an oil change in preparation for the sale. This XKE roadster is now offered in Florida with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, a spare-parts catalog, a tool roll, and a clean North Carolina title.
This XKE was originally finished in Opalescent Golden Sand, and a repaint in the current red hue was performed under prior ownership. Features include split front and rear bumpers, glass headlight covers, and chrome windshield and door-top moldings.
Chrome-finished 15” wire wheels secured with two-eared knock-offs wear 205/65 Michelin Primacy tires. Braking is managed by four-wheel discs.
Cabin finishes include black leather upholstery and interior trim fitted in place of the factory Light Tan materials. An aftermarket radio with an auxiliary input is linked to speakers fitted within the center stack, and lap belts are provided for both occupants.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts a suite of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows just under 44k miles, approximately 300 of which have been added by the selling dealer; true mileage is unknown.
The twin-cam 4.2L inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. Carburetor tuning, fluid changes, and fuel-pump and ignition-component replacements are said to have been performed during prior ownership, and an oil service was completed in preparation for the sale.
The cylinder-head stamping 7E11651-9 matches the number stamped on the engine block as well as the underhood identification plate, although it differs from the sequence listed on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate.
