This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I two-seat roadster that is finished in Opalescent Golden Sand over tan leather, and it is powered by a numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ chrome-finished wire wheels, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and chrome bumpers and trim. The car was first sold by Kansas City Motors in Missouri, and it was purchased the seller in 2019 from its fourth reported owner. Maintenance during current ownership is said to have included brake work, adjustment of the carburetors, and replacement of the battery, alternator, radiator fan, and exhaust components. This XKE is now offered with spare and removed parts, an owner’s manual, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The seller states that the exterior was repainted in its original Opalescent Golden Sand in 1989. Features include a black soft top, hood louvers, twin exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers. Chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels are fitted at each corner, and a matching spare is located beneath the trunk floor. The car features independent suspension at all four corners and four-wheel disc brakes with inboard rear rotors. A rear brake bleeder system was reportedly installed in August 2020, at which time the brake fluid was flushed and the rear calipers, brake master cylinder, and servo were replaced.
The interior features seats trimmed in tan leather with matching door panels and carpets overlaid by black rubber floor mats. Equipment includes a center console with an armrest, hand-crank windows, and a push-button radio. The clock is inoperable. The factory wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline. Gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows under 42k miles, 100 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six was factory rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Maintenance in 2020 included adjustment of the carburetors, an oil change, and replacement of the battery, alternator, and radiator fan. A startup video is provided here. Engine stamping 7E5948-9 matches the engine number listed on the underhood identification plate. A stainless-steel dual exhaust system was installed in 2020.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate shows factory colors, identification numbers, and a build date of September 28, 1965. An owner’s manual is included in the sale along with a knock-off mallet and copies of the original title and manufacturer’s statement of origin. Removed and spare parts are also included in the sale.
