Ebay item 11/16/08
Opening bid $40,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 day s left in auction.
1966 4.2L XKE Roadster finished in Opalescent Gray with Red Leather Interior. This automobile is a true survivor having only three owners from new AND 30,340 original miles. Original owner kept car in light use from 1966 thru 1972. The Jaguar was then placed in heated storage until the late 1980's. 2nd owner purchased the car from storage and began light restoration which included a respray of exterior paint, new leather seats, new carpets, new door panels. The original chrome spoke wheels were replaced with Hi-Performance Jaguar spoke wheels sourced in the UK. These exact wheels were used on E-Type Racing cars in the 60's & 70's due to their exceptional hi strength construction. They are painted as opposed to the chrome finishing which was discovered to weaken the steel. The original five chrome wheels will be included in this sale. One of the original wheels is used as the spare tire. This car retains the original sill vinyl, original center console trimmings, dash pad and possibly the convertible top. Bumpers and bumperettes show age patina but shine. All other chrome shines as new. Restoration includes total braking system rebuild. Mechanically the car is 100%. Starts instantly, idles smooth, accelerates perfectly with great oil pressure (shown in photo of gauges). There are no temperature issues with this car. This is a 100% matching numbers vehicle as shown in the photos. I have blanked some of the digits to prevent duplication by unscrupulous auto sellers. The light restoration was completed in the mid 1990's and used sparingly until purchased by present owner in 2008. May need some minor cosmetic tweaking like replacement of hose clamps, spark plug wires. The floor pans, rocker panels are as they left the factory. All boot vinyl trimming are original as well as boot boards. You will also find the original plastic fuel lines in place . If you've been looking for an original matching numbers E-Type to add to your collection this is the car for you.

This is written in a gentle manner. I notice one competition wheel on the front right, and another at the other opposite rear corner ! Quite dangerous, if you consider the Jaguar Competition Department insisted that competition wheels fitted to Jaguar E types, be used only on the rear axle ! I would imagine that if the owner decided to flog the daylights out of his Jaguar, he/she may end up in a tree or worse ! Perhaps you could warn him/her, or if the vehicle has been passed on, the new owner ?
