Ebay item 5/18/04
www.ragtops.com/, British car specialists, for mechanical/engine tune-up. All plugs, wires, caps, rotors, carb needles, down pipes and gaskets replaced. More than $7000 was spent to make this car run like new.

All receipts for work and other documentation are available for inspection.

I have 5 original, red-banded tires with less than 1000 miles on them.

This is not a project car, but a ready to drive and enjoy roadster that looks and runs great.

This is the last, and favorite, in my collection. There are no surprises here, just a straight forward, excellent automobile that is also a work of art. I have driven E-types for over 40 years and this Series I is the best of them all. This car was rated 89-91 points by Jaguar judges in February of 2004.

Vehicle Description

1965 Jaguar XKE Series 1 Roadster 4.2 Litre

59,800 original miles - Triple Carb 4.2Litre - Red on Black

I acquired this car from a gentleman who was parting with his entire car collection. He had purchased the car with 48000 miles on it and in 24 years of ownership had added less than 12000 miles to the odometer! It has been licened and inspected every year during that time. It was stored dry in a climate controlled garage.

In 1992 the car went through a cosmetic restoration that included stripping the paint down to the bare metal and a superb repaint in original Jaguar red. There is no rust, no fill and never have been any accidents.

In 2001, there was a mechanical "restoration" at Ragtops and Roadsters; a British Car specialist, that included a full tune up and replacement of all plugs, wires, caps, rotors, carb needles down pipes and gaskets, with receipts for the $7000 spent to make the vehicle run like new.

There are five original red band tires with less than 1000 miles on them. The top is in very good condition and has a clear rear window

Tonneau cover is included.

There is a 98% complete tool set, jack and spare.

The interior is in good condition.

Also an original copy of Road and Track magazine from 1965 with a driver review of the 1965 Jaguar XKE Roadster!

While not a show car, this is a ready to enjoy roadster that looks and runs great!

Vehicle Condition

To try and remove any apprehension I will describe in as much detail as possible any known faults.

Overall the paint is in superb condition as can be sen in the photos. The repaint is ten years old there is no fading or bleaching common on red color cars, since this car was always stored indoors. There is one small 1/8" bubble in the paint on the dirvers door, there are minor stone chips on the front of the hood 1/16", there are some minor surface scratches expected from the age. There is one deeper scratch on the lower corner beneath the trunk. There are a couple minor hidden areas of overspray. The logo on the front grill crossbar is a little faded, so I have included a spare cross bar assembly.

Overall the chrome is in good condition, the chrome on the rear tail lights and bumpers has some minor pitting. The right left tail light has a small dent (1/4")

Mechanically the car is very sound and has been well cared for. The right windshield washer sprayers is loose. No other known defects and has passed inspection.

I will post more detailled photos here: Jaguar XKE Series 1 1965 Roadster

Vehicle Description

1965 JAGUAR-XKE SERIES I ROADSTER 4.2

59,751 Original Miles
4 Speed transmission, fully synchronized
3 SU Carbs
Black Leather Interior

I purchased this car 24 years ago with 48,000 miles. The car has been housed indoors throughout and has been continually licensed and inspected.

In 1992 this car was taken down to bare metal and superbly re-painted in the original Jaguar red. Both floor pans were replaced with parts from “Terry’s Jaguar” www.terrysjag.com/. There is no rust or fill. The car has never been in any accidents. Only 2000 miles were put on this car since restoration on sunny afternoon rides through the country.

In 2001, the car was sent to “Ragtops and Roadsters” www.ragtops.com/, British car specialists, for mechanical/engine tune-up.

I would welcome any calls to discuss this auto and answer your questions.

This is the last, and favorite, in my collection. There are no surprises here, just a straight forward, excellent automobile that is also a work of art. I have driven E-types for over 40 years and this Series I is the best of them all. This car was rated 89-91 points by Jaguar judges in February of 2004.

It is my goal to take some of the apprehension and fear of unknowns out of what can be typical in buying a classic car of this type and welcome calls from serious buyers.

Car is located in BRYN MAWR, PA

The current eBay listing indicates that the seller will sell it off eBay for $33k. Do you think it's worth this price? The sales history looks to be quite sketchy, and the seller isn't including a Title or Regristration with the vehicle, only a bill of sale.

About 2-4 years ago a slew of e-types were bought by foriegn interests and dumped in a warehouse. Judging from the pictures this appears to be one of those cars. I have seen them reappear on ebay the last year for sale. If anyone has seen this car I wuold be very curuis of your opinion.

Car also listed as sold at:
ragtops.com/gallery/main.php

Description:
Engine number 7E2456-9 Chassis number 1E10679 with 59,242 miles on the clock. Car appears to have been an older restoration with previous paint work, has been off the road for two years and does run and drive. Undercarriage does need some rust repair that does not appear to major. A good restoration candidate.
