First restauration after barn find, completed in 1986/88. I bought the car in 1996 and started the 2.restauration, inkl. interieur, some mechanical and complete in + out paint job. Very original.

Sellers description
1965 XKE convertible. I have owned the car for 8 years and I hate to sell it, but I have to many toys. Here is the story about this car. After it was discovered in a barn, a retired submarine chief started to restore the car in 1985. New rockers and complete floorpans incl. crossmember were installed, using all original parts. The rest of the body was very solid. Engine had around 68000 mls., new bearings, new rings, new seals, new clutch. Transmission was very good. Than the car was completely restored, everything was rechromed, new interior in blue Conolly leather. New windshield, new weatherstripping. The car was painted in light blue. The restoration was finished in 1992. The gentleman kept the car in a heated/cooled garage in Florida, until he had back problems, he sold the car. When I got the car, I changed the carpet in blue, to match the rest of the interieur. I had a new timing chain and tensioners installed, the cylinderhead completely rebuild, put some taps on the exhaust valves, installed an electronic ignition system - not visible, except for 1 red wire. Carburators rebuild. I installed a new brake booster, rebuild the brakemaster and the clutchmaster, new slavecylinder. I removed the original cooling fan and installed a heavy duty Chevy cooling fan, you hardly see the difference, and the cooling improved 100%. The original Lucas alternator was replaced with a high output Japanese alternator, works wonderful - an original alternator can be reinstalled, the wiring is still in place, so is the regulator. Waterpump rebuild. New exhaust installed, incl. chrome ends, new Dayton stainless steel wire wheels. I recently cleaned the fueltank and the sump, installed a new fuelpump and two in line fuelfiter. 2 months ago, I installed a new softtop, I placed a special order with one of the best convertible top manufacturer in the USA, the material is the top of the line, used by Porsche and BMW, it is dark blue, to match the car color, the boot is still black. The car was painted with everything off, 4 years ago with PPG, base/clear. And the paint still looks new, however, there are a few bubbles on the left louvre - it happens, when I was in a stop and go situation, after coming back from a british car show, it was the exhaust heat. It will be taken care off, before the car goes to the new owner. I did every work myself, so, I know exactly what was done to the car, I restored so far 12 cars, and all my cars are 99% - I don't do concours restauration, I keep an antique car original to the point, when it comes to the mechanics, I like to make my cars to enjoy, nothing feels better, than driving down the highway with a Jag XKE, top down, and not worrying a mechanical failure. You can drive this Jag anywhere you want, there is no issue with the car which needs attention. I changed oil twice a year, regardless of the miles, and I used high quality oil with an oil stabilyser, the gearbox and rearaxle is filled with synthetik gearlube, done 2 months ago. The car was never in any accident, and has not seen water in the last 20 years, it was kept in a garage with his pyjama on. The tires are the correct size, however, they are over 10 years old, not cracked or damaged. All systems work, but I noticed some misreading on one of the gauges, I will check it out. Battery is new. If somebody wants to make a concours car out of this one, he can do it, this is a #matching car. This car is not a give a way, but I set the reserve very reasonable.
