This 1974 Jaguar XKE is a Series III roadster that was manufactured on May 30, 1974 and was acquired by the seller in 2005. The car is finished in Signal Red over tan leather and power comes from a 5.3-liter V12 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a tan tonneau cover, 15” chrome wire wheels, a black soft top, aftermarket electronic ignition, air conditioning, quad Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, and a polished stainless steel dual exhaust system. A repaint was carried out in 2011, and additional work performed during current ownership included overhauls of the transmission and carburetors, refreshment of the suspension and brakes, and a replacement fuel tank, air conditioning seals, timing cover gaskets, cylinder head seats, and more. This XKE Series III is now offered with spare parts, a tool kit and jack, manufacturer’s literature, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, service records, photos from the paint and bodywork, and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.

The body was disassembled and repainted in its original shade of Signal Red in 2011 following bodywork and rust repairs as detailed in the gallery. Equipment includes a black soft top, louvered hood, driver’s side mirror, dual polished central exhaust outlets, chrome bumpers, and US-spec bumper guards. Chrome bumper guards are included in the sale.

Chrome 15” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Pirelli P4000 SuperTouring tires. The front brake calipers were overhauled and replacement discs and pads installed in 2010 while the rear brakes received replacement calipers, discs, and pads in May 2019. Independent front and rear suspension came standard on Series III models, and the front torsion bars, shocks, and upper and lower ball joints were replaced under current ownership. A remanufactured steering rack was installed in 2012.

The bucket seats are finished in Russet leather with matching door panels and carpets and a black dashboard. Equipment includes air conditioning, an aftermarket cassette stereo, a locking glovebox, center console with armrest, and a carpeted rear parcel shelf. The heater core has been bypassed per the seller.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and center-mounted auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles, approximately 9k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The 5.3-liter V12 was factory rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque and is fitted with an aftermarket electronic ignition and a stainless steel dual exhaust system that was installed in 2017. The four side-draft Zenith-Stromberg carburetors were overhauled in October 2020, the alternator replaced in November 2020, and the car received an oil change and replacement air conditioning seals in August 2021 per the seller. Compression test results are viewable in the gallery, and additional items replaced over the last 15 years include the following components:

Timing cover gaskets

Cylinder head seats and cam cover gaskets

Fuel tank, fuel pump, and in-tank fuel pickup

Braided fuel hoses

Power steering pump

Water pump

Re-cored radiator

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was overhauled and received a replacement clutch in 2009. The rear axle was refreshed in 2010.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory equipment, colors, serial numbers, and a production date of May 30, 1974.

Service and repair records from the seller’s ownership are included in the sale.
