Ebay item 4/20/04
Current bid $5,000, no reserve, 1 bid, 4 days left in auction.
This is a great example of the beautiful 2+2 XKE. It has been in storage in a garage for the past eight years. The car is complete in every way as shown in the pictures. The exterior color is green (green sand I think) with olive leather interior. The body is very straight with a small (about 4 inches long) dent on the driver door, the interior is in very decent shape including the carpeting, but the mats and the center arm rest needs to be recovered. The car will also need a complete respray. I also took pictures of the underchassis that show the good condition even of the underchassis. It does not have any dents where careless mechanics have damaged many XKE's by not using the jacking points.
I was seriously considering a V-8 engine conversion but because the car is so complete and unmolested, I decided that if I got a fair price for it, I would rather see it restored.
The motor does not turn but the motor oil from the dipstick looks and smell normal, and is not milky at all. The transmission fluid also looks and smells normal. The fuel pump operates and the gauges are functional when the ignition is turned on.
The chrome is complete, but the molding on the front grill is dented. The door lock and glove box keys are functional, the wirewheels are in good shape, and the tires are quite new, the spare wire wheel and tire show very little use if at all. It has the original jack as well as the brass tool for removing the wire wheels. It has the original BLAUPUNKT cassette recorder complete with the microphone. The odometer shows 18163 miles but this is definitely not the correct mileage.
