This 1973 Jaguar XKE Series III 2+2 is a running project car that was recently removed from storage where it reportedly spent the past 20 years. The body is finished in Azure Blue over a Biscuit leather interior, and power is provided by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes knock-off wire wheels with earless spinners, chrome bumpers, quad exhaust outlets, four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, and a Panasonic AM/FM cassette stereo. Service in anticipation of the sale consisted of rebuilding the carburetors, changing the oil, and performing a visual inspection. This XKE is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and a clean Oregon title.
The body was reportedly refinished in its factory Azure Blue under previous ownership. Rust penetration, scratches, dents, and cracking are noted over the entirety of the body. A crack is present in the windshield.
15” wire wheels with earless knock-off spinners are wrapped in older mismatched tires that should be replaced due to age. The selling dealer notes the brakes are in need of service and should not be driven on.
The interior features Biscuit leather seats along with matching door panels and carpets. Equipment includes an air-conditioning system, center armrest, locking glove box, and a Panasonic AM/FM stereo. The headliner is removed, rust holes are noted in the floor panels, and wear is noted over various leather panels.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel sits in front of a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows just over 54k miles, and the true mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter V12 features single overhead camshafts for each cylinder bank along with four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. The selling dealer changed the oil and rebuilt the carburetors. The car was driven on an external fuel tank, and the factory fuel tank is said to need cleaning.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional rust is present on the underside.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate shows the original colors as well as the build and dispatch dates.
