Ebay item 2/20/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster-Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster_W0QQitemZ4 ...
Opening bid $25,000, no bids yet, 23hrs left in auction. Car said to be located in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Sellers description:
Sexy, beautiful, flashy, FAST... Excellent condition. Radiator hoses and fuel lines replaced, carbs rebuilt, radiator fan switch replaced, new stainless steel exhaust, front sway bar replaced, new distributor cap, rotor, spark plug wires all done mid-2004. No rust. Haven't driven it much since mid-2005. Has "clunk" noise on right hand sharp turns. A/c does not work. I've owned the car for 19 years and have maintained and restored the interior, brakes, top, paint, engine, etc. throughout my ownership.

68,600 MILES, ON EBAY 05/08, SELLER WRITES: Up for auction is a 1973 Jaguar XKE Roadster convertible. This is the E type Jaguar. If you are not serious about purchasing this Jaguar please do not bid and waste your time and mine.

In my mind a totally restored automobile is one that has every single part removed and either repaired or replaced just as it was when it rolled off the factory floor. This would also include all finishes down to the smallest detail. When the car was purchased a tremendous amount of effort was put into finding a car that was already in superb condition. I had no desire to devote the time, effort and expense on a car that wasn’t already in top condition. This car has not been totally restored, but as you can see from the enclosed photos the car is in remarkably wonderful condition. The paint, top and interior were in such good condition that I was hesitant to replace these items. However; the top and paint were somewhat faded and the paint had a discolored area about 2 inches in diameter on the bonnet. This car has been driven a few hundred miles since it was refurbished. The V12 engine and Borg- Warner transmission were not rebuilt because they simply didn’t need to be and still don‘t. The car runs and drives like a dream. If you so desire this car is mechanically fit to be driven home if you are the lucky buyer. The original R12 air conditioning system works very well here in Texas, and it does get hot in Texas. The original self winding electric mechanical clock even works as do all items other than the windshield washer pump. The car has new paint, and almost all new rubber trim. The transmission is tight and the wheels slightly "chirp" when the transmission shifts even with a moderate throttle. The car has the original engine and I assume the original transmission, since they are considered to be "bullet proof". The chrome is in very good condition. The car is 35 years old and I’m not suggesting that the car is perfect, but if you are looking for a car that can be driven rather than a show car to put on display you will be hard pressed to find a nicer car. If you have an interest in the this car I strongly suggest that you come take a personal look and a test drive. If you can’t come I suggest that you contact a independent 3rd party to look at and drive the car. Pictures can be deceiving but when you personally look at this car you are going to want it!

This car has an after market fuel pump. I have installed an electronic ignition system. (original ignition parts will come with the car) In addition the air cleaners are not original and have been hand fabricated. The car has the original Operating, Maintenance and Service book and will be delivered with a fabric car cover. The car is painted a metallic red, Dodge UPH paint code. Vin.# 1921107, Car # UD1S21107BW, Body 4S2724, Eng. 7S8187LA, Gear Box 11735 Mileage 68600, Date of Manufacture 11/72.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
