Imported into the United Kingdom from California in Spring 2017 and registered GVG854K in July 2017. Supplied new with a factory fitted hard top and air conditioning. It was later fitted with electronic ignition and re-painted in the original colour of light blue. The odometer shows a mileage of 39,000 which appears genuine. It still has its original wheel removal tools, maintenance manual and an E Type parts manual. The exterior is in excellent condition with no corrosion issues and the interior shows a nice patina from light use.

*Delivered new to the USA
*Left-hand drive; manual gearbox
*Matching numbers and colours
*Un-restored apart from a re-spray in
original colour
*Recent major service (July 2017)

Delivered new to British Leyland, New York, this beautiful and unmolested E-Type Series 3 Roadster was imported from California, USA in early 2017 and is now UK registered and MoT'd to 27th June 2018. The recorded mileage of circa 39,000 is believed genuine, while available documentation and the car's generally excellent condition are further evidence that it has seen little use. All numbers and the colour scheme of light blue with dark blue interior match the accompanying Heritage Certificate. At some time the car has been repainted, keeping the correct Jaguar light blue colour, while the bodywork and all chrome is in very good condition with no corrosion issues. The interior is also in great shape, displaying a nice patina resulting from light use. The car has the more desirable manual gearbox and benefits from a factory air conditioning system, while an upgraded electronic ignition system has been installed by a previous owner.

In July 2017 the E-Type was treated to a major service at AJF Motor Engineers in Westcott, Buckinghamshire (see bill on file for £2,278). We are advised that the car is mechanically sound and drives very well, the engine registering good oil pressure.

A dark blue factory hard top and a full length tonneau / soft top cover are included in the sale together with a full set of wheel removal tools, an original Jaguar E-Type Series 3 maintenance manual, and an E-Type parts manual.

Sold by Charles Leith Limited of Lymington in February 2018. Seller's description below.
www.charlesleith.com/cars-for-sale-1972-Jaguar-e-type-series-iii-v12-roadster-wi ...

1972 Jaguar E Type Series III 5.3 litre manual V12 roadster with dark blue factory hard top, left hand drive. Just over 39,000 miles are recorded, believed genuine looking at the overall condition of this E Type. Registered GVG854K in April 2017 and imported from California having been registered in New Jersey, this fine V12 is MoT'd until June 2018. With Jaguar Heritage certificate this V12 was completed on 27th April 1972 and dispatched to British Leyland New York on 18th May 1972. Chassis number 1S20503 with engine number 7S6331SA is an original matching numbers car, painted in the original favoured press car colours of Light Blue with Dark Blue interior. At some point this car was resprayed in the correct colour, the bodywork is in declared good condition with no corrosion at all and all the chrome is in very good condition - which is unusual. The interior shows little signs of use over 45 years.

Uprated with electronic ignition system installed by a previous owner, useful factory air conditioning for the American market, a rare option at the time. A £2278 UK major service was carried out in July this year, the engineer advising the car is sound and drives very well, the engine registering good oil pressure. Additional items include the desirable factory hard top, full length tonneau and soft top cover which lives in a useful locker behind the rear seats, which also contains the windscreen sun visors that the previous owner removed. There are also a full set of wheel removal tools, the E Type series III maintenance manual and parts manual.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
