Sellers description:
Built in late 1970 the last one produced was #28786. This vehicle is #28254. The archivist for the Jaguar Daimler Trust in Coventry, England said that "It is a 1970 Calendar year car although it is described in the U.S.A. as a 1971 model". It is fitted with the original Phillips AM/FM/SW radio. Documentation shows it was purchased new in January of 1971 in Arizona and titled as a 1971. At the time current owner purchased, the Arizona title showed 52400 miles. It now has a clear California title and resides in Central California. Car will ship from Paso Robles, CA 93446.

Car has had much recent work in the last couple of thousand miles such as new Michelin tires including spare, newer Connelly leather seat covers, recent carburetor rebuild and new exhaust pipes. It has also had a new fuel pump installed, battery and new master brake cylinder. Car has excellent, newer paint and newer chrome on the bumpers. The air conditioning will need charging and blinker switch replacing.

This car is now in Stevensville, Michigan. It was purchased by me from Hymans Ltd. (St. Louis MO) in August 2009. Its previous owner was in Illinois. It appears to have gone from AZ to CA and then to IL and now MI.

BHG 520 was the registration number (number plate of my very first car, an Old English White 1953 MGTD. I have re-used the number on "Primrose". I have added the "H" because that is the code number (on British license plates) for cars made in 1970.

Extensive work completed by Eclectic Motorworks of Holland, MI. Front suspension rebuilt; radiator refurbished and cooling fans now working; brake servo rebuilt, new brake master cylinder, front brakes rebuilt; stance of car levels via torsion bar adjustments, carburetors serviced, engine mounts replaced, oil leaks fixed. Driving beautifully. More work to be carried out later in the year.

More work by Eclectic. Removed junk AC plumbing and vents from car, relocated alternator to correct location. Full tune up (Petronix Flamethrower electronic ignition and coil fitted, hotter plugs, new HT leads, carburetors rebuilt, valve clearances reset). Rear suspension serviced and all rubber parts renewed. Fixed water leak from water pump. Running, sounding and handling "like an E-type should" says my mechanic.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
