This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is a non-running project that was put into storage in 1982. It was then acquired by the seller in 2025 and serviced. It was repainted in green under previous ownership and is equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six linked, a four-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, a black convertible top, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an air conditioning system. This XKE roadster project is now offered with the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
Exterior equipment includes a black convertible top, a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets. The side marker lights were replaced under current ownership. Noted issues include fading and peeling paint, rust on the floor pans, a front bonnet valance that is bent inward, and a convertible top that is missing its rear window and requires replacement.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by octagonal knock-offs and are mounted with a mixed set of tires. The car is equipped with a power-steering system. Service records indicate the full brake system requires a rebuild, including the front and rear calipers, rotors, pads, and handbrake components.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in Suede Green leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include a locking glovebox, a Philips AM/FM/SW radio, a wooden shift knob with a Jaguar crest, factory power steering, and air conditioning. The seat upholstery is torn and cracked.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 27k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. A DieHard battery and a York-style air conditioning compressor are fitted. The engine is said to turn over manually but has not been started. The alternator and a cooling fan mounting bracket are missing. Service in preparation for the sale included:
Applying Marvel Mystery Oil to the engine cylinders
Changing the oil, replacing the filter, and cleaning the canister housing
Replacing the battery and installing a starter motor terminal post assembly
Checking the distributor, points gap, condenser, cap, and rotor
Installing a stainless-steel exhaust system including the downpipes, header pipe, doughnut gaskets, double muffler, resonators, and heat shield
Replacing the bonnet strut, pins, and clips
Replacing the original fuel cap with a vented cap
Records indicate the fuel tank is leaking, and the fuel lines require full replacement. A Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate is reportedly on order.
The car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The differential fluid was replaced, and weeping is noted around the differential cover.
A collection of parts accompanying the car includes a hub knock-off wrench and lead hammer, a Crosland air filter, heater and blower motor components, a pair of replacement pillar caps, and a Ring Automotive retractable antenna assembly.
