VIN-No. 8502077

A$ 140,000

'Flat Floor' and original Right Hand Drive.

It was delivered new by 'Cycle and Carriage Company', Singapore in 1961 before sold to a customer in Malaysia, the car was purchased by an Australian in 1967 who was serving in the RAAF, he kept it until his death in 2003. During his ownership, in the early nineties a full bare metal restoration was undertaken and in 2001 the engine was overhauled by Roadbend Jaguar in Perth, it has covered only 10,000 miles since this work, more recently the car was repainted by Tony Pallas at 'All Classic Cars Restorations', it subsequently won Silver in the 2008 NSW Jaguar Concours d’Elegance.

The car also benefits from electronic ignition, electric cooling fan and stainless steel exhaust system as well as the original owners handbook, hood cover with bag, toolkit and spinner hammer.

The history is laid out in a lovely album which details the cars history from new, including original Malaysian rego papers, Jaguar Heritage certificate and many photos and papers from its life.

A rare and beautiful car that will reward its owner either as an addition to a classic collection or to use regularly on those lovely sunny Sydney days.

Car now offered at:

www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1961-jaguar-e-type-manual/SSE-AD-16229034/

Seller's description:

Jaguar E-Type 1961 Flat Floor OTS Chassis# 850207 Engine R2067-9. This is a unique opportunity to purchase an all matching numbers original RHD very early Series 1 3.8Ltr Roadster, offered for sale in JDCA Concours Gold Award winning condition. Finished in Opalescent Antelope with Biscuit trim. Engine block, head, gear box and chassis all correctly numbered as shown on the original factory ID plate and Heritage Certificate. Construction of this car was completed on 10 October 1961 and was shipped to Singapore Cycle and Carriage Company on 19 October 1961 as one of the first six E-Types sold new in South East Asia. It was first registered in Malayia (Malasia) on 2 December 1961. Following early local ownership the car was purchased by an Australian Air Force Officer in November 1967 and imported by him to Perth WA in July 1969. This vehicle has had only three owners since 1967 and has a documented mileage of 87,400 miles from new. A body restoration was carried out in WA 1991 - 1993 and the engine was reconditioned also in WA in 2000. Since my purchase in 2009 I have partly re-restored the car to rectify a number of incorrectly presented items. The car is now in virtually, as built condition, with no so called improvements or upgrades apart from an easily removable manually operated extra cooling fan, to cope with modern traffic conditions if required.

Virtually every nut, bolt, screw, clamp, part and finish is factory correct. The body is totally rust free with unmarked paint and trim, including the fabric hood, hood frame and hood envelope cover. Every component is in as manufactured excellent working order including clock, heating and ventilation system, all gauges and lights, correct vitreous stove enamelled exhaust headers, full as original stainless steel exhaust system, five near new 185/80/15 Avon radials on unmarked standard chrome wire wheels and knock-ons. The car comes with a comprehensive history file and includes the following very rare 1961 items - First Edition Owners Handbook with early amendments - Workshop Manual - Parts Catalogue & Factory Sales Brochure - Factory Literature Package - compete correct Tool Kit - Factory supplied Shelley Bottle Jack. The car exhibits the early production features including Flat Floor pans, separately pressed bonnet louvers, early carburettor throttle linkages, Butlers number plate lamp assemblies, pumpkin painted head etc. Of the total production of 357 original RHD OTS Flat Floor cars Chassis # 850001 - 850357 built between March 1961 to January 1962 approximately 200 survive world wide with about 16 currently in Australia. I will provide a list of all these known survivors world wide to the purchaser if requested. This extremely rare early RHD E-Type has been lovingly maintained by me over the last 15 years and presents an excellent long term investment for the future. NSW Reg # 45258H non transferrable. The car is located in Sydney.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
