Car to be at auction 7/13
www.silverstoneauctions.com/1973-jaguar-e-type-series-iii-v12-roadster

Auction description:
Silverstone Classic Sale
1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
Lot No.: TBA
Registration: 73 WW 503
Chassis Number: 1S1949
Engine Number: 7S12996SA
Number of cylinders: 12
CC: 5300
Year of Manufacture: 1973
Estimate (£): 45,000 - 50,000
The Series III incarnation, with manual gearbox, offered here today is resplendent in Azure Blue paintwork with beautiful Biscuit leather interior, both of which are in first-rate order and complement one another more than any other colour combination.

It was purchased by our vendor in 1993 following a long search for the best possible E-Type. He eventually settled on this matching-number example in the correct original colour following the approval from XK Engineering Ltd of Coventry who he had commissioned to conduct a thorough report on the car prior to purchase. A copy of this report is included in the history file for the car, and every suggestion that XKE Engineering made has been carried out. There was nothing structurally required on the car despite every aspect of the car undergoing full scrutiny. The report was conducted to exacting standards (most notably, 'prop-shaft bolts not through nylon locks') giving any prospective buyer ultimate faith in the quality of this vehicle.

Chassis #1S1949 was the subject of a thorough restoration in 1988 including many new body panels and its V12 5.3litre engine received a full reconditioning at this time. Since this period it has covered just 30,000 miles, and only 12,000 of those in our vendors 20 year ownership.

Currently offered with full Irish registration documentation this car is described as being in fabulous condition throughout and is worthy of serious consideration at the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
