Chassis No. P1R42962BW
Engine No. 7R38833-9
Transmission: Automatic

P1R42962BW: Presented here is a numbers-matching 1970 Jaguar XKE 2+2 4.2L Coupe, finished in glossy white paint subtly complimented by light beige interior upholstery and bright chrome. Purchase new in Palm Springs, the XKE has spent its entire life in the dry and arid climates of southern California and Arizona.

The older ground up restoration carried out by a previous caretaker still presents well as a driver. The interior in this early series III coupe features original switches and instrumentation, Nardi steering wheel, and period Panasonic radio.

Since 2004, over $7,000 has been invested in preserving and maintaining the vehicle. The heater equipment under the bonnet has been removed, although all original parts accompany the car.

The undercarriage present beautifully with solid floors and frame.

* Desirable and distinctive British sports car!
* A thrilling and reliable driver!
* Less than 50,000 original miles!
* A solid southwest car!

Only: $27,800.00

Lot #76049

This 1970 Jaguar XKE is a 2+2 coupe that is finished in white over beige leather upholstery and powered by a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car is said to have spent time in Arizona prior to being acquired in 2012 by the current owner. Equipment includes manual rack-and-pinion steering, knock-off wire wheels, air conditioning, a Pioneer CD stereo, a Nardi steering wheel, an alternator, and quadruple exhaust outlets. This XKE 2+2 is offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a spare wire wheel, starting instructions, manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a clean Texas title.

The car is finished in white and was reportedly repainted during prior ownership. Features include chrome bumpers with overriders, dual side mirrors, a side-hinged rear hatch, pop-out quarter windows, aftermarket reverse lights, and quadruple exhaust outlets. A dent in the passenger headlight trim and cracked paint on the passenger quarter panel are visible.

Knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in Hankook Optimo H724 whitewall tires. The factory power steering system was removed in lieu of an unassisted rack-and-pinion steering gear in 2015.

The 2+2 cabin features seats upholstered in beige leather with a matching center console, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include a Pioneer CD stereo wired to aftermarket speakers and an armrest. The air conditioning system was installed along with lap belts in 2015, while the interior was reportedly reupholstered during prior ownership in 2010. A crack is present in the dashboard pad.

The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, while gauges mounted in the center stack display battery voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The clock is non-functional. The five-digit odometer shows 53k miles, approximately 13k of which were added by the current owner. True mileage is unknown.

The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six was reportedly sourced from a 1970 Jaguar XJ and rebuilt prior to being installed in 2015 by Victor’s Service Center of San Antonio, Texas, who also replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the tank. The engine is equipped with dual Stromberg carburetors, three electric fans, an electronic ignition system, and an alternator in place of the factory generator.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, which was installed in 2015 by Victor’s Service Center of San Antonio, Texas.

Chassis number P1R42962BW, the VIN on the New York registration omits the “P.” [designation for power steering]

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
