Vehicle Condition
Written by the Owner
Restoration:
Vehicle was purchased in 2001from Pilot for American Airlines who purchased the car and in 1987 spent over five (5) years restoring Jaguar to Excellant Condition. Clear Title. No Lien.

Receipts in possession showing Restoration cost over $25,000 bringing car to present condition.

Records from Royal British Motors, Dallas, Texas indicate that the engine and drive train was completely removed and restored, repair and replace front engine seals, brake system rebuilt, wiring harness replaced, body stripped, primed and double spray painted. Records available upon serious inquiry.

In last two years, I have spent $1,200 total ($900 for water pump and $300 for alternator). Receipts are available.

Frame:
The Jaguar appears rust free and has been in Texas since 1987. When restored, the body was removed from the frame and frame was painted. No knowledge of any wreck.

Suspension:
The suspension is in excellant condition due to restoration. The ride of this Jaguar is equal to the two other Jaguars I have owned in my life - It is superlative! No rattles, rolls or shakes - just pure 4 wheel independent suspension!

Brakes:
The brakes are in good condition. Have to drive it to see.

Body:
Appears double spray coated. Left passenger door needs new hinge; needs new (unchipped) windshield). Tires are in good shape.

No better looking Jaguar - It shines and draws significant attention on roadway - Always garaged by present owner as well as reported by prior pilot owner (who also had a sharp 1953 Jag in his garage!)

Paint:
Condition of the paint would rate as a 9 out of 10 - The gloss is superlative, easy to clean.

Chrome:
The chrome on an overall appearance, front, back and sides, would be rated an 8 out of 10 - only the back bumper has some oxidation - part appears to be replaceable.

Interior:
The entire interior has been replaced. Black vinyl bucket seats, no ripping, tears, in seats or dashboard. Washer does not work. All instrument gauges appear to work.

Transmission:
The transmission and rear end have been restored. The restoration was between 1987-89, and kept garaged by prior owner, approximately 10,000 miles ago according to the records.

Exterior:
Entire exterior just shines! Bonnet (Hood) was part of restoration - Absolutely stunning reflection from shiny gloss, trunk was also completely rebuilt, has soft beige carpet and siding in trunk - barely big enough for a set of golf clubs!

Engine:
Engine is original and the engine numbers are available for the serious buyer. The car smokes due to hemp seal. This E-type responds immediately and without effort to your commands. Drives great on the open highway and side roads. It is the Jaguar you always wanted.

Exhaust:

The exhaust system was also repaired and replaced during restoration.

The vehicle is being sold as my wife and I are considering a place in Playa del Carmen since we have been going to Cozumel, Cancun, etc. since our first anniversary 18 years ago! This will make a good down payment!

If I were to keep this vehicle I would replace the front windshield ($200-250 as a guess), replace front left door hinge (unknown), repair hemp seal.

Auction description:

Engine: 4.2L I6

Gearbox: manual

This Jag’s exterior presents nicely, but upon closer examination, there are some noticeable flaws. There are a number of rock chips under the front bumper. Moving to the passenger-side front quarter panel, there is a massive scratch behind the front wheel and two more chips around the edge of the hood. There is a small scratch in the driver’s door, and two more small chips in the gap between the hood and the body. The chrome around the car is straight and polished, and the wire wheels are clean and show no curb rash.

On the Inside

The interior to this E-Type is clean, but not without flaws. The gauges are clean and easily readable, and the wood grain steering wheel could use a healthy coat of varnish. The passenger seat is in excellent condition. Conversely, the driver’s seat does show signs of creasing, and some of those creases have made legitimate marks in the leather. The shifter and handbrake are in good shape, and it would appear that an aftermarket Pioneer stereo has been fitted for modern convenience. The center armrest is lightly weathered, and both door panels look to be in good condition. The carpets don’t have any damage, but they also don’t fit very neatly into position.

Underneath

We are pleased to report that this E-Type has a clean undercarriage. The body itself has no areas of concern and there is no major damage to speak of. The exhaust has little to no discoloration and all of the suspension components are tidy. The engine bay is in excellent condition, and not even a single wire looks out of place.

History Highlights

The car has had two owners since it was built. The first owned the car for 25 years after purchasing it new and kept remarkably good care of the vehicle. The car is 52 years old and has only 71,067 miles on the clock. An impressive feat indeed. Under care of the seller, the car has only been serviced by a professional mechanic who exclusively specializes in British cars. The car runs and drives beautifully as well.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
