Jaguar E Type 1.5 2+2. 1968. 117,000 miles. A black pearl, carefully restored; the E Type in evening wear. This is one of the last Series 1.5. Chassis number 1E79087 arrived in France in 2019 after residing in Pennsylvania. It is equipped with the 4.2 litre twin overhead camshaft engine and four speed manual gearbox. Owned for 37 years by a former US Marine Corps fighter pilot. It has always been garaged and was first restored by Cavallino Rampante in the 1980s. The engine was rebuilt 15,000 miles ago and converted for use with unleaded fuel. The car is equipped with factory fitted air conditioning. In 2011 it was in Danville, California with 113,700 miles recorded.

In 2016 there was a full restoration with the bodywork restored and repainted, the interior re-trimmed and engine rebuilt. As a result the panel fit is excellent and the door closure tight with the doors closing without forcing. The engine runs perfectly, electronic ignition has been fitted and the carburettors overhauled. A new alternator and stainless steel exhaust system were fitted. In 2019 the brakes were overhauled and upgraded. The car starts on the quarter turn. On the road roadholding is good and the steering precise. The engine is melodious with no noise or smoke; a healthy car that is a pleasure to drive. This model is quite rare and will appeal to the collector.
