This Jaguar XKE Series I coupe was completed on February 16, 1965, and was acquired by the seller in 2018 following approximately three years of storage. The car is finished in Opalescent Golden Sand over beige upholstery and is powered by a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes covered headlights, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, GAZ adjustable shock absorbers, triple windshield wipers, a Tourist Trophy stainless-steel exhaust system, and a Panasonic AM/FM stereo. Work under current ownership has involved replacing the head gasket, overhauling the suspension, and replacing clutch, cooling, and fuel system components. This XKE Series I coupe is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate, service records dating to 1987, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Cream and was refinished in Opalescent Golden Sand under previous ownership. Exterior equipment includes covered headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers with overriders, triple windshield wipers, and a side-hinged rear hatch. The seller notes stone chips on the hood, paint flaws on the lower right-front fender, a scratch on the right door that extends to the right-rear quarter panel, and areas of paint checking.
The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Toyo Extensa A/S tires. The car rides on a fully independent suspension featuring GAZ adjustable shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The suspension was overhauled and various brake components were replaced following the seller’s 2018 acquisition.
The cabin features bucket seats with corduroy inserts trimmed in beige, along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. The car was originally trimmed in black. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a Panasonic AM/FM stereo, and a heater.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel features an E-Type checkered-flag horn button and frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer. Auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six was installed under previous ownership and is equipped with triple SU carburetors and a Duralast Gold battery. Service in March 2019 included replacing the head gasket and cooling fan assembly. A gear reduction starter was installed in May 2021, and the voltage regulator was replaced in January 2024. Work in April 2024 involved flushing the coolant, replacing the heater valve, and removing and resealing the fuel pump.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A Tourist Trophy stainless-steel exhaust system was installed in April 2024, a service that also involved removing and re-threading stripped exhaust manifold studs.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate lists factory colors, equipment, and a build date of February 16, 1965.
