This very interesting S1 E-type was purchased, by the vendor, in December 1997 fresh from a nut & bolt restoration by Philip Walker, Membury House, The Membury Estate, Ramsbury, Marlborough SN8 2HH with 500 miles on the clock, which reads 10,350 today. During the restoration a brand new monocoque was installed to convert the vehicle from a fhc to a roadster configuration, and the vendor subsequently added a period hardtop, having had it fully restored and repainted to match.

During the sixteen years the vendor has owned the car, he has upgraded the car continually in addition to having it maintained to the highest standards, as part of a private collection. The list of these upgrades and improvements imclude:-

ENGINE: optimised for fast road use with cylinder head fully ported, 10:1 c.r. with large racing quality valves & valve guides, extractor manifold and large bore stainless exhaust system by Peter Landar at Sigma Engineering. 3 SU HD8 carburettors with Sigma needles and Facet Red Spot fuel pump. Kenlowe fan on custom-made uprated radiator ensures adequate cooling under all circumstances. Special 80 amp alternator powers electro-hydraulic power steering.

TRANSMISSION: 5 speed Getrag all synchromesh box installed by Martin Robey Engineering - 3,000 rpm in 5th = 100 mph.

STEERING: electro-hydraulic power steering installed by Martin Robey Engineering; the rack used is quicker than standard.

SUSPENSION: Harvey Bailey uprated front anti-roll bar, Boge shock absorbers all round, all bushes just replaced.
