Sellers description:
We're delighted to offer for sale this beautiful and desirable Series One 4.2 Fixed Head E-Type in stunning Carmen Red with shut-lines and panel-fit to die for...

Rarely do you see restored E-Types which can boast such accurate and sympathetic comparison to the factory-built cars, but not only that, ours also has proven reliability and mechanical performance to match its cosmetic appearance. The full package!

Manufactured on 10th February 1965, dispatched on 12th March 1965 by Henlys Ltd of London and then subsequently sold by Pass and Joyce Ltd to one Mr. R. Meyer in the Summer of 1965 the car wore its original registration 'DYW 807C' which it shall again be wearing when supplied by Manor Classic Cars.

Ours is a fully-correct and 'numbers matching' original right hand drive fixed head coupe with chassis, engine and gearbox numbers corresponding to those in the Heritage Certificate which accompanies the car. The subject of a thorough and meticulous restoration in the late 1980's, the exceptional craftsmanship displayed then by two very talented father & son motor-engineers has stood the test of time exceedingly gracefully. Our E-Type exhibits exceptional bodywork, mirror-like paint finish (courtesy of Martin Green of Greenspeed in Essex in early 2012) and the aforementioned panel fit and shut lines to rival the very best in the business. Further, the detailed engine bay and interior appear significantly ahead of that you might expect from a car which although cherished, has been used in the manner Jaguar intended...

The Carmen Red exterior and beautiful biscuit trim - whilst not original to the car - really looks the part and has done since introduced in the 1970's. Its interior lightness gives a feeling of space to the cabin which is important on longer journeys such as the continental road trips enjoyed in this car in recent years. The very capable 4.2 Litre straight-six married to a Jaguar manual 4-speed transmission represents to our minds the best E-Type combination and we're certain many 'E' owners would agree that this precise model is a real sweet-spot in the E-Type range.

As well as the early buff log book, our car is offered with a wealth of previous history and a lovely 5-page JEC magazine feature detailing an extensive European road-trip, accompanied by Ed Abbott, renowned Senior Test Engineer at Jaguar's Browns Lane Factory. This 1,600 mile epic tour through four countries was proof of this car's build quality and rugged reliability, being a real pleasure and privilege to drive, according to the proud owner.

As you'd demand, a comprehensive photographic record of restoration work dating back to the late 1980's is with the car, together with a detailed account of how it came to win several concours competitions in the early 1990's. It's superb condition today is largely thanks to the fact that for the last 25 years this car has lived a pampered life in museum-like conditions, in a heated, dehumidified and temperature-controlled environment.

This is a deservedly much admired car and you need to prepare yourself for that appreciation with every journey you embark on; however, that's all part of the privilege of ownership of what is unquestionably one of the finest and most genuine E-Types of its kind in existence today.
