I today was threatened with the police, a targeted negative publicity campaign against the site, and legal action. And I do this for what reason, remind me again?

I can only put this to you one way—— following– Police involvement the car you list was declared not genuine and simply the use of a hi-fon — in the assumed Chassis number — avoided prosecution.

If I do not receive confirmation from you in 24 hours that your listing — is deleted & or clearly reflects the Clone / situation.

I will immediately take steps with both, Police,my lawyers & my PR media company to ensure the full extent of the miss leading and damaging details you publish are removed.*This if an article published would undermine any credibility re your site as a reference point.

I respect your site & wish you well with your Hobby ,however I am attempting to bring a valuable and genuine Series 1 E Type to the Market & I cannot overlook the most unfortunate information you presently portray.

I have another dealer who is constantly on me to remove comments reflecting poorly on them, which, according to the person who published them, are completely factual, backed up by evidence I’ve been presented. Of course, legal threats follow there, too.

“I respect your site” in this context? Kind of like when people add a disclaimer such as “don’t think I’m a _______” before uttering something truly offensive which only underlines that they’re, indeed, a ________.

I did remove the details, which consisted of a few photos and a republished auction report, which was probably in error, but it’s impossible to judge. However, I don’t have the time or the stomach to deal with this sort of thing at the moment.

I have a few details to attend to, and I need to order one for myself to make sure they’re OK quality, but I’ve prepared a half-dozen each of XK and E-Type mosaic posters, mostly pulling from old calendar shots. If they prove to be something which sells, I’ll add more over time. Each poster will be 35″ x 23″ and features 5476 unique photos — no repeated photos on any one poster!

The XK and E-Type sites are the only two which have enough exterior photos of the right size to build these mosaics, though I may do a couple of C-Type and D-Type posters using E-Type and XK images.

The photos on the full-size poster are fairly small, five thumbnails measure two inches across, but they’re discernible.

Posters will be priced at about $30 or just under. Remember a large part of that goes to Cafe Press, and the rest is put towards keeping the doors open here. I’ll probably do a quantity discount but let’s see if any sell at all.

Below is a sample showing Chuck Goolsbee’s S1 E-Type, # 1E10715.

I hope to have these all available towards the end of the week.

It seems every other day I get an email from an owner asking that photos be deleted. This site was not set up to service owners; it was meant to track the history of individual cars over time…but I swear half the email I accumulate about the sites is “please delete everything about my car except what I want.”

To be clear, we will never delete photos you did not personally take. And when you upload photos, if you read the terms (does anyone?) we say up front we will not delete images you upload unless they’re duplicates or have some other problem, like a lack of model releases.

So tiring.

We deleted about 2000 duplicate images from the sites in the past few days, and the work is now complete. We’re also fingerprinting new images going forward, so hopefully this won’t be a problem again. Interestingly, we also turned up about a dozen duplicate cars in the process which had been missed before, and they’ve been deleted as well. So overall, the data has improved considerably. Many thanks (once again) to Paul for his help.

Change is always met with resistance, but I updated the front page to have a full-screen slideshow. Because the images are saved much smaller than most modern screens, they may appear a bit blurry, however, the “atmosphere” is nice and makes the front page a lot less crowded.

Just FYI, the slideshow images are pulled from “exterior” and “action” shots, and even then, they’re only chosen if they’re near the site’s maximum allowed size to keep the blurriness from being even worse than it is. I looked at 10,000 XK exterior images this evening to reclassify errant images and remove duplicates as I saw them. I hope to do the same for the other sites over time but the 40,000+ exterior images in the E-Type site is a daunting challenge!
