More Threats…I Should Just Rename this the Threat Blog
I today was threatened with the police, a targeted negative publicity campaign against the site, and legal action. And I do this for what reason, remind me again?
I can only put this to you one way—— following– Police involvement the car you list was declared not genuine and simply the use of a hi-fon — in the assumed Chassis number — avoided prosecution.
If I do not receive confirmation from you in 24 hours that your listing — is deleted & or clearly reflects the Clone / situation.
I will immediately take steps with both, Police,my lawyers & my PR media company to ensure the full extent of the miss leading and damaging details you publish are removed.*This if an article published would undermine any credibility re your site as a reference point.
I respect your site & wish you well with your Hobby ,however I am attempting to bring a valuable and genuine Series 1 E Type to the Market & I cannot overlook the most unfortunate information you presently portray.
I have another dealer who is constantly on me to remove comments reflecting poorly on them, which, according to the person who published them, are completely factual, backed up by evidence I’ve been presented. Of course, legal threats follow there, too.
“I respect your site” in this context? Kind of like when people add a disclaimer such as “don’t think I’m a _______” before uttering something truly offensive which only underlines that they’re, indeed, a ________.
I did remove the details, which consisted of a few photos and a republished auction report, which was probably in error, but it’s impossible to judge. However, I don’t have the time or the stomach to deal with this sort of thing at the moment.

Tell this illiterate oaf to take a running jump ! I anticipate that someone capable of spelling ” hyphen” as “hi-fon” is unlikely to be genuinely ” bringing a valuable E type to market” . In any event , where there are 2 cars with the same apparent details it requires a great deal of research to determine which car is genuine and which is a “clone” . I would also make absolutely sure that the details of the car of the complainant cannot be posted, otherwise the situation may well arise again in reverse

Roger : just thinking about it further, since it is at least possible that the car in the complainant’s hands is not a genuine car, might it be an idea to alert the police to his identity, so that they can enquire whether it might be a clone ? Plainly, either there is an error in the details which were posted, or, one or other of these cars is a fake

Yeaahhh, riiight!
Well I will not reveal here what I call these people, but I just want to let you know you are doing truly great work by keeping this site open and live. There are far too many Jaguars, nowadays also E-types with duplicate identities worldwide and far too many dealers and scumbags who want to “bring cars to the market” when the cars actually have either been stolen, written off or “re-built” using all new chassis frames and a body, either new or from another car. The silliest of these people may even be selling an OTS with a FHC chassis number and identity or vise versa and claiming it to be “original”. The same goes for the XK’s and XJ’s, I have seen so many even as far as over here.
Cheers!

Ya gotta wonder why people get so defensive as to become offensive if they have nothing to hide. Don’t know who these people are but if I did I’d (and tell everyone else to) steer clear and find a seller who was willing to defend their case in the open and not with threats. This site is helpful to many thousands (at least) and a threat to a handful, who’s the outlier here?

I think this is a wonderful site which provides a unique and valued service. Please do not be deterred. I haven’t checked but assume you have a disclaimer and check for obvious flame etc comments before they go online.
