Series 1 and a Bit

Frankly, I can’t get too worked up about this (but others can), so I’ve changed the definition of “Series 1.5″ cars to match what I guess is now the standard set by the JCNA. This means LHD cars numbered before

  • Fixed Head Coupe 1E34583
  • Open Two Seater 1E15980
  • Two Plus Two 1E77709

Are now considered to be Series I cars. This contradicts the numbers published for years by Skilleter and cohorts, but apparently the JCNA research is much more solid.

Had this from Paul Skilleter after I mailed him the comments:

    Tony -

Yes, ‘my’ figures of 20 or more years ago were outdated a long time ago and
were somewhat abitrary anyway. Mark Miller in California did some good work a
while back in established the true change points, and I am sure others have
looked into the matter further. We even have an article on the stocks about
‘1.5′ E-types; maybe we should revive it in the light of more recent
research. The JCNA are very sound on this sort of thing.

    Cheers,

    Paul

  2. Roger, keep trying to leave following comment on XK-e forum, “Re 1E 12687 your car was originally Primrose (Yellow) built on 24th Feb 1966. regards John.” Keeps saying its spam? please let me know what I’m doing wrong, regards John.

  3. Hi John, there is a field now where you have to answer the question before it will accept the comment. It’s right above the form and hopefully once read the answer is obvious.
