It does beg to question; what can these guys do or what to they expect? If e.g. I take a pic and post it who owns that? VINs are public, at least here in the US, and must be prominently displayed so what info is owned by the current caretaker? Until someone shoots me at sunrise I'm pressing on!

Mark, these things usually pass, but I do like to point out that it's not all sunshine around here at times. ;) I think folks mistake what this site is about, that it is some sort of official organ and/or only owners should be allowed to use it, neither or which are true. The true reason the site exists is in the hope that stories like yours are able to be told.

Roger, this is a rather disturbing development. One of the great things about this site is that past owners can provide information about their period of ownership that will give current owners greater insight into their car's history. When I added 1E30036 to the site in 2003, I had not owned it for five years and it appeared to have disappeared from the face of the earth. I was pleasantly surprised in '05 when the current owner posted photos of the car. He eventually PM'd me earlier this year detailing his nine years of ownership. I hope this latest development doesn't hinder this exchange of information.
