9,000 E-Types
Fast approaching! Pretty remarkable.
(It’s an interesting contrast to watch the Saloon eBay auctions versus XK and E-Type. It always seems that the majority of saloons are restoration projects, while most of the sports cars have already been restored at least once.)

Roger, what I find remarkable is that more than ten percent of E-Type production is accounted for 32 years after the last one left the line. It’s pretty obvious that most owners, past and present, regard the E-Type as more than just another sports car to be used up. I’ve watched the counter since the inception of xkedata and am continually amazed at the rate cars are discovered and added. I won’t be surprised if we see 10,000 cars at this time next year.

Funny you should mention the 10k number. We’ve added nearly 100 in the last 4 weeks and that goal crossed my mind today as well. I love to see the counter ticking up because its more information and documentation of cars for posterity.

Is that any wonder? Saloons like Mark VII to IX have always been the “victims” of the XK´s of the same period because they were in technical aspects idendical and much
more used for daily transport. Their live mostly ended in a shredder rather than in a restorers garage.Today they are very much rarer although the production-number was
really high. Today with a good Mark VII you get an entrance for every old-car event !
