Virtual Club Race
Anyone actually have this game? This looks like fun.
Of course, it’s probably a console game, which puts me out of the running…but still, pretty cool.
If you got here via the XK Data, Saloon Data, XJS Data, XJ6 Data or the Healey Data nav bar, this blog can't "live" on multiple domains as the blogging software doesn't support it. The items discussed below apply to all domains, and I'll endeavor to highlight items from all sites.

If you upgrade to IE7, you can actually see the site as it should look and has been enjoyed by users of Firefox (namely, the navigation sidebar, header, and footer remain fixed in position). I had to do a bit of juggling to make this work (it wouldn’t be a Microsoft product if it didn’t require some extra coding to work) and I think this site still looks like it used to in IE6…please let me know if you have any trouble.
I added a number of new items to the store, including books from Amazon, and a new CD-ROM of the no-longer available “V12 Guide to Authenticity” by Richard Russ. When you buy Amazon books through this site the price remains the same to you but we get a small percentage of the purchase price, which is very helpful!
Did some minor reworking of the gallery close up display tonight, hopefully you’ll find it cleaner and easier on the eye.
We now have eight E-Types that between them only have four car numbers! In all four cases, there appears to be one legitimate contender and one pretender. However, outside of a lawsuit, there’s no way to really determine the answer to the question of authenticity. And the stakes are pretty high–I have heard in many European countries (and all four cases involve cars where one is in Europe and the other is in the States) having a car with a “faked” number might lead to it being crushed, without recompense. That may even be the case here in the states.
Frankly, I didn’t think anyone would go to this extent to “legitimize” their cars…plenty of craptacular project cars exist (even today) for modest amounts of money, an easy source of a “legitimate” car number and legal paperwork.
It presents a problem for us, as in how do we present such machines on the site? I really don’t need the owner of a car we label as the “pretender” pointing their lawyer guns this way. There are practical problems as well from a data managing perspective, but they pale before the legal aspects.
Sorry I haven’t been updating here, but I’ve been busy, and no new features have graced the site. But here’s a Google video of a short trip in a ‘73 V12…
I just wanted to point out a couple of things about photos of cars on the site:
Unfortunately the photos are a bit small, but what an interesting find–a special bodied XK150 Fixed-Head Coupe by Zagato. Zagato was famous for their “double bubble” bodies (where the roof had twin bulges) and it’s a bit unclear from the photos whether this machine follows the same model.
This lovely V12 2+2 was chosen simply because of the wonderful photos that accompany it. They’re worth a look!
(Sorry about the lack of updates, but it’s been a busy few days!)
