Fixed Head Coupe #1E30036 is a lovely car, and the comments section is exactly what I had hoped to see when I started this site–a way for past and current owners to get in touch with each other, and for current and future owners to learn more about their car’s past. Simply great!

  1. Roger, imagine my surprise when I checked out the blog for the first time today, to find my old coupe as the featured car! Talk about bringing up a bunch of memories and emotions! I have tons of photos taken of the old beast in the sixteen years I owned her. Unfortunately all were taken in the pre-digital age, so all photos on your site were supplied by subsequent owners (I sold the car in 1998). Once gone her whereabouts remained a mystery until the current owner supplied the photos shown on your site. I have attempted to contact him, just to learn where the car has been and where he’s taken her, but have received no reply. It’s obvious that the car is receiving excellent care and I hope it will continue to provide enjoyment for years to come. I’m currently restoring 1E32208, but I’ve long regretted selling ‘036! If the current owner would care to contact me I’d be happy to provide more detailed information from my period of ownership.

  2. Mark, I’m pleased you left the information for the old owner, maybe he’ll be in touch…some folks just like to soldier on alone, though. I know how you feel–I sold my ‘66 FHC in 1998 and have had a few regrets over the years, even though I only had it about a year. I’ve been putting together 876073 but it’s slow going. Fortunately, the gentleman who bought my FHC has given it a splendid home, so that helps a lot.

  3. Hi, Roger. ‘036 was the car I drove through college (in a state of “arrested decay”), in the early ’80s. It looked bad, but the body was as straight and rust-free as any E-type I’d seen. Still, it was a huge leap forward from the MGA I’d been using as a daily driver. This was when southern California was full of old British cars that were worn out mechanically, but with great bodies. I tend to photograph everything, so if Morten does decide to contact me I’ll be more than happy to provide him with prints from my old negatives. He’ll probably be surprised to see that his car was once metallic maroon! I may scan one or two of these and post them to the site.

I’d wondered why we hadn’t heard about 876073 lately, but these projects take an enormous amount of time, especially when we start finding “surprises” we missed during the courtship and honeymoon periods of ownership. Your coupe is a pretty car. If I recall, it was linked to your Healey site some years back and was the subject for your color picker.

  4. Last week Morten was kind enough to email me with a request for some photos taken during my period of ownership. He has now owned the car for close to nine years and is taking very good care of it. He’s also made a number of very desirable modifications. I have located a number of photos taken during the ’80s and ’90s, so I will scan some of the better ones and get them posted. Stay tuned…
